The buildings dominating the background are intricately detailed without being fussy. This is achieved by the use of various muted hues, rather than thick, dark heavy lines.
The way in which the silhouette of Dredd is almost dwarfed by the skyline acts as a visual cue to suggest the character's enormous task of bringing law to such a vast, lawless city.
It's almost a crying shame that the film-makers didn't use a billboard poster as effective as this.
